Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to experimental solution of a problem of finding ways of sustainable and adequate provision of patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) with effective and safe medicinal products (MP) taking into account an impact on quality of life (QOL) of patients. The glaucoma is called "a quiet thief," since the primary open-angle form, diagnosed in 80% of all cases, is completely asymptomatic, and at early stages, patients don't feel any deterioration of vision or any local manifestations of the disease. The atrophy of the optic nerve is irreversible, therefore, in the event of late diagnostics, an adequate therapy can stop or at least slow down the process, but restoration of vision in general is out of question. Taking into account the above-mentioned, we studied the S01E pharmaceutical group "Antiglaucoma Preparations and Myotics," currently available on the modern pharmaceutical market of Ukraine, which have different mechanism of action, belong to different price niches, and are characterized by different degrees of influence on the quality of life of patients, for the purposes of optimization of POAG pharmacotherapy.
