Essay

A cone-beam computed tomography and teleroentgenographic study of 38 young men (aged 17 to 21 years) and 55 young women (aged 16 to 20 years) with a physiological occlusion as close as possible to orthognathic bite was performed. For the first time, the limits of the percentile range and peculiarities of the angular computed tomographic indices of the three-dimensional position of individual teeth and teleroentgenographic characteristics used in the Steiner, Tweed, Schmuth, Schwarz, Holdaway, McNamara and Downs methods were established, as well as ethnic differences in the data were revealed. For the first time, reliable, predominantly average, multidirectional correlations of teleroentgenographic and cone-ray computed tomographic characteristics have been established between: cranial structures that do not usually change during surgical and orthodontic treatment; indicators of the upper and lower jaws, which most often need to be guided when performing orthodontic treatment of patients in the process of growth, as well as in persons with a formed bone skeleton, which through orthodontic surgery can change the width, length, angles and position of the upper and lower jaw; indices that characterize the position of each individual tooth, the closure plane and the profile of the soft facial tissues, which are most often corrected in the process of orthodontic treatment of dental-jaw abnormalities. For the first time, the analysis and development of regression models of reproduction of individual teleroentgenographic and cone-ray computed tomographic characteristics of the dental-jaw system for Ukrainian young men and young women with orthognathic bite were conducted. For the automated and convenient practical use of the simulation results, the universal software-diagnostic complex "UniqCeph" was created, which will allow to carry out quick analysis of teleroentgenograms according to the given methods and to compare the obtained results with existing classical standards and the data obtained in our study.
