The reasons and preconditions for the formation and activity of social-christian organizations of Halychyna in the late XIX – early XX centuries are comprehensively and comprehensively analyzed, their institutionalization, organizational and ideological principles, political views are studied. The significance, place and role of the Social-christian movement in the cultural-educational movement, political life, formation of national consciousness, self-affirmation and consolidation of Ukrainians in the studied period are shown. The peculiarities of the functioning and structure of the parties of social-christian orientation, personnel potential, content and main forms of activity are studied. A holistic system of objective criteria, ideological and theoretical factors and practical and organizational bases of the movement functioning is substantiated. Particular attention is paid to the study of ways to implement their ideological principles in the political realities of the time, the issue of cooperation with other Ukrainian and Polish parties in solving pressing social and religious problems. It is proved that the main role in the process of activity of the social-Christian movement was played by the orientation on the improvement of life and realization of the national aspirations of Ukrainians.
