Essay

The analysis of theoretical and methodical principles of the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel by means of assistant professor courses at Ukrainian universities in the second part of the 19th – at the beginning of the 20th cent. is carried out in the thesis. The current state of scientific development of the problem is characterized; the source base is systematized; the methodological basis of the thesis is determined by application of the philosophical knowledge, a total combination of scientific approaches and a system of scientific methods. The premises and legal framework of the development of assistant professor courses as a source of skilled additional scientific and pedagogical personnel is analysed. A periodization is developed. The mechanism, contradictions and tendencies (positive and negative) of its development within the survey chronological span are defined. The originality of views of university professors on the development of personnel active list at the universities is substantiated. The directions of application of historical and pedagogical progress in the training of skilled scientific and pedagogical personnel under the current conditions are described.
