The work is devoted to the development and implementation of the scientific concept of forming the quality of bedding products with volumetric fillers processed with biocidal treatment. The paper identifies new scientific approaches to the choice of textile raw materials for bedding products and substances for their processing, in particular the use of new fibres and modern innovative technologies for their treatment with biocidal products to increase safety and improve consumer properties. In the thesis analytical researches of the state and trends in the development of bedding products with volumetric fillers at the Ukrainian and world markets, as well as prospects for the development are presented. The categorical apparatus of commodity terms and definitions of bedding products with volumetric fillers has been improved. The thesis presents the developed scientific classifications of bedding products with volumetric fillers – blankets, pillows and mattress covers. New classification of consumer properties of bedding products with volumetric fillers using the theory of attractive quality (the Kano model) is presented in the thesis. A significant practical result of the work is a questionnaire survey, which revealed consumer preferences in terms of range and quality of bedding products with volumetric fillers available at the market. The regularities of the biocidal product effect on fungal resistance of fillers of different nature were identified. Microbiological contamination and bioresistance of fillers for bedding products to tested fungi (Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus terreus, Penicillium funiculosum, Trichoderma viride, Chaetomium globosum, Paecilomyces variotti) were evaluated. Comprehensive studies of safety indicators of bedding products with volumetric fillers have been carried out. It has been experimentally proven and documented by the conclusion of the state sanitary and epidemiological examination that bedding products treated with the biocidal preparation/product «Bactrim»» meets the requirements of the current sanitary legislation of Ukraine and can be used in the declared area. Samples of bedding products with feather and down filling, protein and cellulose and synthetic filling met the established medical safety criteria. Studies of the hygienic properties of new bedding products with volumetric fillers helped to identify that the highest hygroscopicity belongs to wool fibers, in particular, to camel wool (24.8% hygroscopicity). The feather-down filler material, at the same time, has insignificant hygroscopicity – 6%, and synthetic fiber fillers have the lowest hygroscopicity – 0.38%. Artificial fibers from eucalyptus and bamboo are characterized by high indicators of hygroscopicity – 20.9 and 20.1%, that is explained by their more porous supramolecular structure. The effect of various types of fillers and the density of their filling in bedding products with volumetric fillers on their thermal properties are scientifically substantiated and experimentally proved. The thermal properties of bedding products with different fillers were examined by determining the total thermal resistance and relative thermal resistance of the samples to the thickness of the filler package. The distribution according to the values of the indicators of thermal properties of blankets with various volumetric fillers was found: the highest level is typical for products with feather-down fillers, and the lowest one – for products with polyester fillers. In the thesis, a complex quality indicator of bedding products with volumetric fillers was calculated. The calculations indicate that the developed bedding products with volumetric fillers are superior in quality to the closest analogues in terms of purpose and properties. A significant practical result of the work is the discovered social significance of the use of bedding products with biocidal treatment, which consists in increasing the products life. The approbation of the results of the research was carried out in industrial conditions.
