Stasyuk O. Soviet election campaigns as a factor in the USSR western regions Sovietization (1939–1953)

For the first time in Ukrainian historiography, on the basis of a wide source base and historiography achievements, the role of the power representative branch in the socio-political and economic transformations system in the western Ukrainian regions during Stalin's rule was comprehensively studied. The conceptual approaches of the Bolshevik ruling elite to the organization of power representative bodies elections in the region, "special" intensification technologies of the electoral process, specific forms, and campaigning methods are identified and described. The special attention of the CP (b) U Central Committee and local party committees to the situation with the election campaigns in the western regions was emphasized. The concrete dissatisfaction facts of the population with the Soviet election legislation, forms, and methods of its realization, separate measures of the Soviet power directed on forced Sovietization of the region have resulted.
