Essay

The process of formation and development of professional self-determination in educational theory and practice is revealed and holistically characterized in the dissertation. The peculiarities of self-determination within the framework of the theory of professional development are revealed on the basis of the analysis of the scientific research of domestic scientists of the outlined period (30s of the 20th – 21st centuries). The regulatory and legal framework has been systematized and the dynamics of changes in the professional self-determination of young people in Ukraine within the studied period have been traced. The historiographical and source-based analysis of the problem of professional self-determination of the individual (30s of the 20th – 21st centuries) made it possible to substantiate the research methodology based on a set of scientific approaches (systemic, paradigmatic, chronological, cultural, axiological, comparative-content, hermeneutic); outline the essence and content characteristics of the key concepts of the study; reveal the chronology of formation and development of a person's professional self-determination; the content and structure of the concepts «professional orientation», «professional self-determination», etc. The author's periodization of the development of the problem of professional self-determination of an individual has been developed, which includes the following periods and stages of formation: I period 1930 – 1950 years – the birth of the professional definition of a person, which has two stages: 1930 – 1936 and 1936 – 1950 years; the II period – the end of the 50s – the 1990s – the period of revival of the process of professional self-determination of the individual, in which it is necessary to distinguish two stages: 1958 – 1984 and 1984 – 1990s; the III period – from 1991 to today – the period of formation and development of the individual as an active subject of professional self-determination. The organizational and pedagogical principles (content, methods, forms, means) of professional self-determination of young people in Ukraine, which were consistently changed, updated and supplemented in accordance with the identified periods, were revealed. The study of regulatory and legal regulation, theory and practice of professional self-determination of an individual in historical retrospect ensured its integrity and contributed to the selection of meaningful, technological and prognostic information for determining prospective directions of creative use of acquired experience at the current stage of improving the preparation of young people for personal and professional self-determination, self-realization and activeself-affirmation.
