Essay

The domestic and foreign policy of Hetman I.Skoropads’kyj (1708-1722) in severe totalitarian conditions of Russian monarchies is characterized. It is cleared up the methods he aspired to preserve the autonomy of the vast region. The methods are problem-chronologic, comparative, analytic and statistic. A new conception for the appreciation of I.Skoropads’kyj’s personality as a politician and military man in the history of Ukraine is suggested.
