Essay

The dissertation presents research in formation of Bund‘s organisations in Ukraine during the period of late XIX-th-early XX-th centuries as well as their struggle, jointly with other opposition groups, for overthrow of the trarist autocracy, all being based on archival sources, documented facts from published articles, newspapers and literary materials. It shows the party members taking part in social and leaders estimated the effort of Ukrainian democrary in strengthening the State system and securing interests of national minorities. The dissertation reveals Bund members attitude to the October Revolution in Petrograd, to home and foreigh policy of the Central Rada, Hetman‘s regime Directoria. The author analyses the motives of gradual transition of most of Bund‘s organisations towards ideology of the Soviet power, to merging with the CP(b)U, setting up Jewish communist sections within its committees. Attention was focused on difficulties the Jewish sections had to overcome in their practical activ ity.
