Svorak S. General Educational School of West Ukrainian Region in the Context of Social and Political Life of the II Half of the 40s - the I Half of the 60s of the XXth Century.

The dissertation presents a research of and development of the general educational school in the context of social and political life of the region. The process took place in the conditions of breaking with the educational system, traditionally settled in Western Ukraine, which caused an opposition between the national undeground movement OUN-UIA and the Soviet power organs. Under such circumstances school-teachers' collective bodies were, for a long time, hostages of the opposition forces and had to reckon with their demands on the content and direction of education. The dissertation contains analysis of the Party and Soviet organs' policy in the solution of the problems concerning materal and technical plant of schools, content and methods of teaching and education, personnel supply in the system of education, its reorganithation, as well as its scientific and pedagogical grounding.
