Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the development of theoretical and methodological research principles on the development of international mergers and acquisitions (M&A) processes and their impact on the concentration of market power, and, consequently, on the interests of other market participants, including consumers, partners and competitors. The paper is also dedicated to the development of scientific and practical recommendations for the protection of competition in markets affected by dominant market power. The concept of studying the impact of international mergers and acquisitions on the concentration of market power has been improved. The available approaches to the definition of types of mergers and acquisitions are systematized. The main motives and effects of the merger and acquisition strategy are summarized. The theoretical and methodological bases of research of effects of concentration of the market power are specified. An author’s algorithm for studying the effects of market power concentration, which arise as a result of mergers and acquisitions, is proposed and empirically tested. The quantitative tools for assessing the impact of the process of mergers and acquisitions on business efficiency and welfare of society, developed by the author using the methods of system-dynamic modeling, have been improved. The genesis of theories of research into the processes of international mergers and acquisitions was further developed. A system of determinants of the process of international mergers and acquisitions is proposed. The categorical apparatus of research of mergers and acquisitions has been improved, namely the notion of «mergers» and «acquisitions» has been clarified. A mechanism for increasing the effective implementation of the state antitrust policy has been developed.
