The dissertation is devoted to theoretical analysis and generalization of approaches to understand and study the psychological phenomenon of adaptability and study of cognitive factors of adaptability of the unemployed in the conditions vocational retraining. In the dissertation, the decision of actual is carried out scientific problem of studying the influence of cognitive properties on the adaptability of the unemployed in terms of vocational retraining on theoretical, empirical and experimental levels. Based on the theoretical generalization of domestic and foreign sources, organizational, statistical and psychological approaches are identified theoretical and methodological principles of research on the problem of cognitive factors unemployed in terms of vocational retraining, disclosed generally organization of research, substantiated use of psychodiagnostic tools revealed the features of the influence of cognitive properties on the adaptability of the unemployed in vocational retraining analyzed and statistical data of research results are interpreted. Theoretical research shows that adaptation manifested by the optimal interaction of the individual and the environment environment, which is the tendency to establish a variable between them balance. Adaptation to functional levels is divided into physiological, mental, social, which together constitute an integral dynamic formation that determines the functional state of the organism. Adaptation is a multifaceted phenomenon: as a process where there is an active adaptation of the individual to the conditions social environment through the management of their own activities; as a result that provides her ability to self-realize and meet their social needs; as adaptability, the ability of an individual to adapt due to properties that provide this ability. The theoretical value of the work is to develop ideas about the psychological characteristics of the relationship of adaptability of the unemployed in vocational training with different cognitive components of personality, in formulating the principles of work of psychologists to increase the adaptability of the unemployed in vocational retraining according to the psychological characteristics of the individual. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the development and testing of a comprehensive program to increase the adaptability of the unemployed in short-term vocational retraining. The proposed program contains «Diagnostic tools for assessing the adaptability of the unemployed in vocational retraining» and «Developing training to increase the adaptability of the unemployed in short-term vocational retraining». The training was developed taking into account the topics of training and production training of the unemployed and the peculiarities of the requirements of certain professions, which allowed to organize training sessions as binary, with a combination of psychological and correctional and pedagogical components. A comprehensive program to increase the adaptability of the unemployed in short-term vocational retraining can be used by the psychological and pedagogical staff as an effective tool in training with students, trainees, students mastering new professions in vocational education centres of the State Employment Service of Ukraine. Other professional and vocational institutions of the first degree, where short-term training in professional activities takes place. High educational programs institutions in the training of future psychologists and pedagogical workers in the field of vocational education to expand the tools of their training work.
