Essay

The dissertation focuses on researching the musical Olympic movement in Ukraine at the beginning of the 21st century. The main scientific task is to reveal the specifics of the phenomenon of the Olympic music movement, the peculiarities of its revival and development in the context of festival-competition events of modernity and mass culture in independent Ukraine. The Olympic Music Movement is interpreted as an event based on the principles of voluntariness, unity, competition of students of art institutions, and the competition of these educational institutions as a whole to promote the art of music. The revival of Olympic principles in art is due to the rapid development of the professional competition and festival movement at the beginning of the 21st century and the search for alternative forms of mass competition. The introduction of the principle of competition in the educational activities of the International School of Arts «Montessori Center» allowed the creation of the concept of musical multi-stage Olympiad as a combination of historical and national-cultural traditions in the context of mass creativity. The Olympic music movement is considered an artistic and cultural phenomenon based on the interaction of the following components: competitive activities, art education, performance, and networking. The studied phenomenon is interpreted as a holistic systemic phenomenon of cultural and artistic life, which is based on retrospective heritage (tradition) and develops in the context of socio-cultural, musical-artistic, social-informational, and musical-pedagogical components. The specifics of the Olympic music movement in correlation with art competitions are revealed. It is determined that the musical nominations were united and separated into an independent Olympic music movement, which, having its origins in the First Choral Olympiad in the Ukrainian SSR historically continued to form in independent Ukraine. It should be noted that the Olympic movement of the 30s of the twentieth century contributed to the development of musical culture despite the totalitarian regime of the party in the Ukrainian SSR as part of the Soviet empire. That became possible thanks to the involvement of progressive Ukrainian cultural figures of the time (M. Verykivsky, N. Horodovenko, B. Lyatoshynsky), as well as the use of the Ukrainian folk song repertoire of Ukrainian composers (G. Veryovka, M. Verykivsky, M. Leontovych, V. Kosenko, L. Revutsky, K. Stetsenko). For the first time, the specifics of the revival and implementation in the festival competition, competitive movement of the Music Olympiad on the example of the All-Ukrainian Music Olympiad «The Voice of the Country» are analyzed. It is determined that the essence of the modern Olympic music movement is to create a unique platform for the implementation of competitive communication tasks: combining a wide range of musical genres and performers, creating a kind of art forum for communication of all participants of the Olympic music movement – performers, jury members, teachers, education and audience. The emergence of the dynamics of development of the All-Ukrainian Music Olympiad «The Voice of the Country» from 2014 to the present in the context of Olympic values, namely the social significance of the event, its role in the development of national culture, application of the principle of competition in teaching and educating harmoniously developed personality. For the first time, basic artistic educational guidelines have been identified on the example of the activities of the author's Montessori Center International School of Arts. It is substantiated that the main postulates of the institution are the following: independence and freedom of choice of education, encouragement, and absence of criticism, respect and support, organization, and provision of a friendly and favorable environment for children. In Ukraine, those institutions are aimed at the general development and education of preschool children in playful forms. The scientific novelty and practical significance of the presented research are confirmed by the copyright registration certificates provided by the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine: «The concept of holding the All-Ukrainian Music Olympiad «The Voice of the Country» № 51414 dated September 26, 2013; «Fundamentals of training at the «Montessori Center» № 56942 dated October 15, 2014.
