The dissertation deals with a complex research of theoretical and legal principles of notary's competence activity. First of all the author has emphasized that the historiography of the notary institute is a set of knowledge about the evolution of notary in Ukraine in all historical periods, characterized by a logically interconnected and consistent system of legal sources on the notary institute and reflects the evolutionary process of accumulation and improvement of legal knowledge about this phenomenon.
