Essay

In the dissertation research, the theoretical substantiation of the component composition of the conceptual model of procrastination, its approbation, the study of positive and negative manifestations and consequences, individual and psychological characteristics of the procrastinator were carried out. Empirically, with the help of correlation, factor and multiple regression analysis, the following psychological features and relationships of structural components, positive and negative manifestations and consequences of personality procrastination, life areas of procrastination in decision-making, personality properties were established. The analysis and generalization of the theoretical and substantive aspects of the problem of procrastination made it possible to formulate one's own conceptual model of procrastination, based on an understanding of its systemic nature. The component composition was formed by the following indicators - cognitive (irrational thoughts, judgments about postponing activities or making important decisions), time (availability of deadlines for implementation and decision-making, postponing them), value (manifested in activities, the result of which is always important for the individual, that is, there is significant and valuable for her), behavioral (manifested in postponement of decisions, switching to other matters, inclusion in activities at the last moment, refusal to perform) and emotional (most often manifested in the form of emotional discomfort). Therefore, we understand procrastination as always irrational postponement of important decisions with the accompanying feeling of emotional discomfort. The analysis and generalization of the theoretical and substantive aspects of the problem of procrastination made it possible to formulate our own classification of the consequences of procrastination: 1) personal (emotional discomfort, self-criticism, lowering of self-esteem, missing the chance for self-improvement, reduction of self-efficacy, revaluation of values, invention of new personal possibilities); 2) interpersonal (reprimand from management, dissatisfaction of others, conflicts with colleagues, lost trust, termination of relations, receiving recognition, improvement of relations); 3) social (lost income and opportunities, payment of fines and sanctions, spoiled performance, reduction of academic or professional performance rating, change of status, change of direction of activity, successful performance of activity). In order to study procrastination, its consequences and manifestations, a complex of author's psychodiagnostic methods was created: "Questionnaire of structural components of personality procrastination" (RudomanenkoI.V.); "Questionnaire on the consequences of personality procrastination" (RudomanenkoI.V); "Questionnaire of manifestations of personality procrastination" (RudomanenkoI.V); "Questionnaire of procrastination in life spheres of personality" (RudomanenkoI.V). The created diagnostic methods have passed a multi-stage check for reliability and validity and are recommended for scientific research and practical work.
