Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of the dynamics of the peculiarities of professional crises of legal professionals at different stages of professional development. A theoretical analysis of the problem of studying the psychological characteristics of crises in the professional development of legal professionals and developing scientific and applied tools for professional and psychological assistance to legal professionals in the prevention and overcoming of professional crises are provided in the thesis. Professional development of an individual is defined as a process that lasts throughout life, from the moment of choosing a profession to the moment of termination of employment. In this process, a person goes through a series of stages (choice of profession, professional education, and training, professional adaptation, primary and secondary professionalisation, mastery), and also experiences professional crises, both normative and non-normative. The professional crisis is considered from different perspectives, taking into account the importance of this psychological construct and its significance. A psychological crisis can be not only destructive but also play a constructive role in the future. Normative crises accompany the transition from one stage of professional development to another and are caused by the process of professionalisation of the individual; non-normative crises are usually associated with certain life events and often destroy the line of professional development of the individual. Professional crises can be caused by both external factors (working conditions, psychological climate, social and professional stereotypes, social expectations of professionals, changes in life and professional status, etc.) and psychological factors (excessive activity due to dissatisfaction with their position, age and individual psychological characteristics), which can generally affect the job satisfaction of the lawyer and his or her productivity. The specifics of professional activity in the legal sphere, which is caused by the social significance, complexity, and responsibility of this activity, and the presence of a significant number of stress factors and situations are examined. The emergence of professional crises in legal professionals is determined by the accumulation of external and internal contradictions and conflicts.
