Mayboroda Y. The mechanism for ensuring the US global trade leadership

The dissertation is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of the functioning of the mechanism for ensuring the global trade leadership of the United States under conditions of intensifying global competition and crisis processes in the world economy. The conceptual foundations of global trade leadership as a component of global economic leadership and theoretical approaches to justifying the motives and factors of countries' dominance in international trade have been studied, the conceptual and categorical apparatus of this topic was improved. The existing methodical approaches to assessing the country's place and role in the world trade system have been analyzed, the indicators used for such analysis systematized, and author’s algorithm for assessing the country's position in the world trade system proposed. An organizational model of the mechanism for ensuring global trade leadership is developed. Based on the results of the assessment of the resource, macroeconomic, and institutional parameters of the US economy, taking into account the historical and economic context of its development, the factors that determined the country's achievement of high competitive positions and leadership in international trade have been singled out.The analysis of the US foreign trade indicators was carried out. assessment of the foreign activities of TNCs based in the USA, changes in their positions on world markets, and the specifics of the relationship between TNCs and the US government were determined. A comprehensive analysis of the structure of the organizational and economic mechanism for ensuring the global leadership of the USA was carried out. Сharacteristic features of the transformation of the US foreign trade policy were determined. An author's approach to the assessment of leadership in trade is proposed, which is based on the calculation and study of the dynamics of the global trade leadership index. The dissertation evaluates the essential features of the competitive interaction between the United States and China and substantiates the impact of bilateral trade and investment cooperation on the position of the United States in world trade. An analysis of the prerequisites, factors and specific features of bilateral trade between Ukraine and the USA was carried out.
