The thesis aims at the theoretical and methodological study of the specificity in texts of the “Breaking News” genre in modern European media discourse. The research is based on the general assumption that it is possible to study changes in languages on the material of modern European media discourse. The object of the study was determined as modern European media discourse. The subject of the research was the specificity of the news texts of the genre “Breaking News“ in the modern European media discourse. The aim of the study was to provide a theoretical and methodological substantiation and empirical study of the specificity in the texts of the genre “Breaking News” in the modern European media discourse. The main objectives of the study include: 1) to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations for researching the problem of media texts in contemporary European media space; 2) to characterize and classify the media texts of the genre “Breaking News”; 3) to analyze the choice of digital research tools for the texts of the “Breaking News” genre in modern European media discourse; 4) to study the peculiarities of the application of “Breaking News”genre texts in modern European media discourse; 5) to carry out a comparative analysis of the peculiarities concerning the use of the texts of the genre “Breaking News” in French, English and Ukrainian media discourse. The scientific novelty of the study is that for the first time: a thematic and content classification of news (texts) of the genre “Breaking News” of the French online publication «Le Parisien», the English online publication «BBC News», and the Ukrainian online publication «Gazeta po-Ukrainsky» was developed; the linguistic features of the news of the genre «Emergency News» of the modern European media discourse are determined (criteria for analyzing media texts); a set of methods of corpus-digital research into media texts of the “Breaking News“ genre was developed and tested; the selected materials were theoretically substantiated and tested on the basis of the developed thematic classification of news in the genre of “Breaking News“ using the corpus tools «Sketch Engine» and «Voyant Tools» according to the distributional and statistical method; the idea of methods and tools for researching media texts of the genre of “Breaking News“ is expanded and supplemented; the classification of modern European mediatexts in the genre of “Breaking News” is generalized, the characteristic features of mediatexts, texts of the genre of “Breaking News”, were clarified, the compositional and structural levels of mediatexts of the genre of “Breaking News“ of the selected news texts are characterized; the knowledge about the peculiarities of studying the texts of the genre “Breaking News” in the contemporary European media discourse at the thematic, structural, and linguistic levels was further developed and generalized.
