Essay

Sustainable development is a key paradigm of modern society, whose main vectors of evolution are centered around the triune perspective of economic, environmental and social components. The Decree of the President of Ukraine enshrines the Sustainable Development Goals for Ukraine for the period up to 2030. All of them are conditioned by the desire to ensure a high standard of living in the country, in particular – by implementing the principle of the service state, by forming a quality living environment. With the completion of decentralization, the growing share of functions and powers to ensure the sustainable development of territorial communities will be transferred to the level of relevant local councils. In this regard, it is important to develop a system of targets that characterize current trends in sustainable development of public transport, based on the definition of the aim and strategic decisions taken by local governments. An urgent task, both at the level of theory and practice, is to develop a comprehensive approach to ensure effective management of improvement the quality of transport services in the cities of Ukraine. The purpose of the dissertation research is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological principles and develop practical recommendations for managing the quality of urban public transport services.
