The thesis aims to determine the fundamental characteristics of theoretical and empirical research of domestic scientists in the area of psychology of human activity performed under special conditions.
The summary of the results of theoretical and experimental (empirical) research in psychology of human activity performed under special conditions accumulated from 1991 up to now can be considered as a stage in the development of modern views on the issue. The thesis is inspired by practical requests, stipulated by, first of all, the security and defense of Ukraine and, secondly, arising merely from the internal logic of scientific research, providing an opportunity to obtain true and reliable data.
Main tasks of the study in question that have been fulfilled:
1. The subject of the specialty 19.00.09 «Psychology of human activity performed under special conditions» as well as all the related scientific issues has been defined.
2. The range of major-related professions making part of the subject area (i.e. firefighters, rescuers, policemen, representatives of special civil protection and state border guard services, military servicemen, astronauts, pilots, sailors, security guards, miners, drivers, athletes, NPP and APS personnel, victims of specific professional activity accidents related to any of the professions mentioned above) has been given.
3. The existence of interdisciplinary connections between the specialty 19.00.09 «Psychology of human activity performed under special conditions» with other majors in differents fields of science (biology, engineering, history, legal studies, teaching, medicine, military science, sociology, national security and public administration) has been evidentiated.
4. A chronological arrangement for the periods of formation and development of the specialty 19.00.09 «Psychology of human activity performed under special conditions» has been suggested.
5. The ranking of the main issues domestic psychologists were interested in within the framework of the specialty 19.00.09 «Psychology of human activity performed under special conditions» has been established. All the 230 theses written and defended in the area of study in question in 1991 – 2021 focused on the following scientific issues given here downwards in the order of importance: personality; psychological preparation, psychological readiness; activity; negative mental states; stress and coping strategies; a team (a group, a team, a crew, a department, a unit) as a phenomenon; psychological adaptation; professional analysis of the main types of risky activities; psychological help and support; professional and psychological selection; rehabilitation, readaptation, the period of post-isolation.
6. The most important domestic research centers studying the scientific issues outlined within the framework of the specialty 19.00.09 «Psychology of human activity performed under special conditions» have been manifested. 7. The gender component of the specialty 19.00.09 «Psychology of human activity performed under special conditions» has been exploded.
8. Theoretical and methodological foundations of research studies carried out within the framework of the specialty 19.00.09 «Psychology of human activity performed under special conditions» have been analyzed. The entire volume of information obtained as a result of the analysis is divided into three groups, i.e. general scientific, general psychological, and special information.
Academic novelty of the scientific research
The obtained results allowed for the first time:
the problem of holistic comprehension of the psychology of human activity performed under special conditions (from the origin to the present time) has been solved;
The obtained results allowed improving:
the process of generalization of the results of theoretical and experimental (empirical) psychological research within a certain timespan;
the problem-chronological classification of qualifying scientific works made in the main domestic research centers dealing with issues of psychology of human activity performed under special conditions.
The obtained results contributed to the future development of:
the scientific views on the structure and categorial status of methodological foundations of psychological research.
The practical significance of the results described and represented in the thesis lies in the fact that they allow to make a contribution to the history of the development of domestic psychology taking into account the dynamics of the development of one of its branches, to expand the source base of historical and psychological research, to develop a concept of an approach to the study of history of formation and development of a scientific area as well as a branch of psychology.
