Fedianin V. Foreign policy of the UAE in the period after the “Arab Spring”

The dissertation is devoted to the scientific problem of the transformation of the foreign policy of the UAE in the period after the "Arab Spring". The work provides a comprehensive review and in-depth analysis of the formation and development of the foreign policy of the United Arab Emirates. It is shown that the foreign policy of the UAE has three main stages of development. The foreign policy strategies of the UAE, the main principles, factors and levels of the Emirati foreign policy are considered. It is concluded that the UAE continues to work at the Gulf level, the Arab world, the Islamic world and the global levels. At the same time, it has been confirmed and proven that after the "Arab Spring" the Emirates turned into a regional leader and that created the conditions for moving the center of the Arab world power to the Gulf region. It is a well-founded thesis that the events of the "Arab Spring" provoked significant changes in the foreign policy of the UAE, which became more proactive and ambitious. The Emirates developed a clear long-term development strategy for the next 50 years, "The Principles of the 50", declaring economic development as the highest national interest along with the diversification of strategic partnership relations, as well as strengthening the country's global positions. Concentration on the economy allows the Emirates to effectively balance between its strategic partners. The implementation of this strategy takes place in the context of the transformation of the international order, where in the conditions of multipolarity, the United Arab Emirates seek to free itself from external pressure and, thanks to the balancing between the centers of power in the West and the East, to gain foreign policy autonomy.
