Kulish I. Development of basic elements of the terminological apparatus of the Ukrainian translation studies in works on history, theory, and criticism of translation

The dissertation includes diachronic studies of conceptual paradigms that form the basis of the theoretical framework of translation studies in Ukraine and are important for understanding the further evolution of this discipline. The focus of this scientific work is the formation of the terms «еквівалентність», «еквівалентний», «адекватність», «адекватний», «відповідність», «відповідник», «точність», «точний», «вірність», «вірний» ("equivalence", "equivalent", "adequacy", "adequate", "fidelity", "accuracy", "accurate", "faithfulness", "faithful") in the Ukrainian translation studies thought from the late 1920s to the 2000s, their evolution until the present as well as identifying peculiarities of the Ukrainian terminology use, i.e. the priority of certain terms in the individual scientific language of several leading translation studies theorists. The author-developed terminology of each of the selected personalities is a model of translation studies, which is not accidental and possesses internal consistency. It includes basic terminology of translation studies with new shades of meaning in the above-mentioned terms.
