Cherniak A. Psychological factors of experiencing the first psychotic episode as a traumatic event in patients with schizophrenia

The dissertation study is devoted to the study of psychological factors of experiencing the first psychotic episode as a traumatic event in patients with schizophrenia. The paper provides a theoretical analysis of scientific approaches to considering the components of a psychotic episode as a traumatic event. For the first time in Ukraine, the concept of trauma of a psychotic episode is distinguished from other types of traumatic events. To date, there is not a large amount of theoretical and applied work aimed at studying the processes of formation of the traumatic experience of experiencing a psychotic episode, so this work provides new data in terms of psychodiagnostics and psychological assistance in Ukraine regarding the current issue of experiencing the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder in our time. A theoretical-methodological research model was built based on Meyers' theory of distress distribution, which indicates the formation of additional symptoms due to a psychotic episode. In combination with the psychodynamic approach, this provides more detailed, voluminous interpretations of the psychotic aspect itself and its potential trauma.
