The dissertation is a comprehensive study of the development of the theory of social capital of the enterprise in a network economy. The first chapter of the dissertation clearly identifies and periodizes the stages of evolution of the theory of social capital, within which the following stages are defined. Based on a critical and constructive analysis and development of the main provisions of the social capital theory, its essential characteristics are supplemented, the concepts of social capital and social capital of enterprise are formed, its components are presented, the classification of its types is improved, which is the basis for building a methodology for assessing social capital. Models of social capital of an enterprise are proposed depending on the dominance of individual components. The place and role of social capital in ensuring the development of an enterprise in a network economy are considered. The conceptual foundations of the development of the network economy theory are highlighted. The criteria for the positive role of social capital in ensuring the development of an enterprise in a network economy are generalized. The manifestations of network effects in relation to social capital in various models of enterprise relations are specified, where the positive and negative effects of the network effect in interaction with social capital in these models are substantiated. Approaches to assessing social capital at different levels are considered. The methods for assessing social capital are systematized and a methodological approach to its assessment is formed, which includes a system of principles, a set of indicators and an algorithm for bringing the results to a comprehensive integrated indicator. In the second section, the institutional prerequisites for the formation of social capital of Ukrainian enterprises are studied. The author reveals the upward position of Ukraine in the first years of independence and identifies the turning point (crisis) timeframe that was used to analyze changes in the level of social capital (expressed through trust in institutions and interpersonal trust). Based on the data of the State Statistics Service, international indices, national and global sociological surveys, the author has identified how long-term political and economic conditions have affected the formation of trust in institutions, interpersonal trust, and economic mentality. Ways to address the negative vector of social capital formation, which is manifested in the high level of shadow economy, low employment, demographic crisis, and institutional restrictions on foreign direct investment, are identified. The relationship between the development of social and human capital is analyzed by comparing the dynamics of the Prosperity Index, the Global Sustainable Competitiveness Index, the Human Development Index, and the indicators of the State Statistics Service, which made it possible to track the peculiarities of the mutual development of social and human capital in Ukraine and the world. The author's approach to assessing the social capital of Ukrainian enterprises was tested, which resulted in determining the state of entrepreneurial social capital and social capital of Ukrainian enterprises. The third section defines the system of enterprise social capital management as a system of principles and methods for developing and implementing management decisions related to the formation of social capital potential and ensuring the conditions for its implementation at the external and internal levels. The components of the enterprise social capital management system are defined. The principles of enterprise social capital management are formulated. The purpose of managing the social capital of an enterprise is defined as the formation of stable trusting relationships in the internal and external environment of the enterprise to ensure maximization of its value. The system of functions of management of social capital of enterprise is presented. A mechanism for managing the social capital of enterprise is proposed. The essence of information support for the management of social capital of enterprise is clarified, the main stages and principles of the process of its formation (transparency, consistency, integration with the general accounting system and social responsibility) are formulated. A system of indicators for information support of enterprise social capital management is proposed and an indicative set of KPIs for taking into account the social component in the enterprise controlling system is formed. The essence of the development of social capital of enterprise is clarified on the basis of the formed integrated system of management of social capital of enterprise and a system of instruments for its development at the enterprise is presented in accordance with the formulated structure of social capital and the direction of influence of individual instruments.
