Bondarenko V. The evolution of the foreign policy course of the United States of America in relation to the Islamic Republic of Iran

This dissertation is devoted to the discourse of the effectiveness of the United States' foreign policy towards the Islamic Republic of Iran concerning national interests of the United States. The thesis scrutinises the influence of bilateral relations on the international context and regional stability. The study conducts a comprehensive examination and expansive analysis of the characteristics and stages of the formation, dynamics, key priorities, mechanisms of implementation, and outcomes of the U. S. foreign policy toward the Islamic Republic of Iran. Additionally, it evaluates its impact on the development of global and regional international political processes. The study identifies and analyses the main factors influencing the formulation and subsequent implementation of the U. S. foreign policy strategy toward Iran, considering historical retrospectives. The mechanisms of implementing strategies of containment, engagement, maximum pressure, containment and engagement by the United States, as well as the dynamics of American-Iranian relations throughout the last three U. S. presidential administrations due to the application of these chosen strategies were elucidated in this study. The dissertation uncovers the unique features of U. S. foreign policy instruments regarding Iran to establish its influence in the region and address the nuclear issue. Furthermore, the paper analyses the anticipated outcomes resulting from their implementation by the United States. The dissertation assesses the 7 effectiveness and outcomes of sanctions by providing a comparative analysis of their intensity’s impact on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries and the evolution of Iran’s nuclear problem.
