The dissertation is dedicated to the theoretical and experimental investigation of improving the training of officers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the context of transitioning to NATO standards, with the research relevance driven by the existing scientific and pedagogical problem of enhancing the quality of professional education for military specialists. Based on the analysis of theoretical and methodological foundations of the training of officers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the relevance of adapting the Ukrainian military education system to NATO standards is emphasized, including doctrinal, operational, and technical standardization. The progressive changes in Ukraine’s military education since 2012, particularly within NATO programs and new legislative initiatives positively impacting the development of future officers’ competence, are highlighted. The specifics of training tactical-level officers, emphasizing the importance of developing a comprehensive set of competencies for effective preparation of future officers, are discussed. An analysis of the concepts and modern standards of military education in leading NATO member countries is conducted, providing valuable insights for the systematic development of military education in Ukraine. The importance of high-quality military education to equip future Ukrainian officers with necessary skills and competencies, as well as the significance of continuous transformation to align with global standards, is underscored. The results of practical approaches to the modernization of officer training in the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicate that improving the quality of military education requires the incorporation of pedagogical concepts such as «quality of military education» and «guaranteeing the quality of military education» into the scientific and legislative framework of our country. This will contribute to the effectiveness of learning, enhancing the efficiency of educational and daily activities within the military educational environment. The need for quality psychological support for cadets, accessibility, and popularization of this institution is substantiated. The issue of updating the material and technical base, integrating modern equipment (particularly for training based on stimulation learning principles), is crucial. The integration of innovative technologies into teaching methods is one of the most promising and demanded directions in modern pedagogy, primarily due to the constant modernization of the specialist training system, the emergence of new technical training means, and the overall scientific and technological progress. The analysis of military education practice provides grounds for the conclusion about the urgent need to update the model of officer formation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the reform of the training of education seekers (cadets, trainees) in higher military educational institutions. In particular, further improvement in the quality of military education should be regulated by modern regulatory and legal frameworks and involve the establishment of a center within the organizational structure of the military educational institution, addressing the issues of ensuring the quality of professional training for graduates, which will contribute to shaping a positive image of an officer as a defender of the Homeland. Based on the results of the experimental part of the dissertation, it was established that the comprehensive application of theoretical and empirical methods of pedagogical research, analysis, and comparison of the obtained results allowed solving the task of implementation and verification of the practice-oriented model at a qualitative level. This model includes pedagogical diagnostics of the initial and subsequent levels of formation of professional competence in cadets; selection of effective forms and methods of pedagogical interaction between the subjects of this process; implementation of the main ways to improve the effectiveness of forming professional competence in cadets. Psychological work and prevention of professional burnout play an important role in working with future officers, as indicated by the conclusions from the conducted survey. The analysis of the research results allows stating that the development of the officer of 2030 will be more effective with the implementation of a new training system in the higher military institution, an improved system of financial support for cadets and scientific-pedagogical staff.
