Investigation object: professional education of the servicemen under contract. Investigation aim: the improvement of professional education. Investigation methods: historical and pedagogical analysis of pedagogical literature, methodological editions of the National Academy of the Border Troops of Ukraine as well as progressive pedagogical experience and activity results of the Border Guard officers-educators; conversation; observation; interview; questionnairing; expert evaluation method. Theoretical and practical results: the essence of the servicemen's under contract professional education has been specified; the model of the servicemen's under contract professional education has been worked out; the pedagogical conditions of improving professional education have been determined; the criteria and indicators of the servicemen's under contract education have been worked out as well. "Complex programme of the servicemen's under contract professional education" has been worked out, which is recommende d to be utilized in the Border Troops of Ukraine as the main methodological document on the servicemen's under contract education.
