Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of proverbs' functioning in works of Cervantes. Proverbs are examined as pragmatically marked units of the language. Proverbs have a wide range of expressive possibilities which make it possible to use them for pragmatic purposes very effectively. A relevant semantic proverbs' feature is the presence of connotative element, containing evaluative information. Analysis origin of pragmatic effect supposes the study of actualization's conditions of linguistic qualities of proverbs in the process of communication. In most cases a discrepancy of transformed proverb in works of art creates prospective pragmatic effect.
