Semiv A. Structural, semantic and stylistic peculiarities of argot vocabulary in Modern French (based on the language of the press)

The thesis is devoted to the problems of phonetico-morfological, semantico-stylistic, as well as word-formation peculiarities of French argot lexis in hte language of the press. Argot has proven to be a special lexical subsystem of spoken French. The systematized analysis of phonetic processes in argot has enabled to determine the fonetic changes which has become fixed in orthography. The frequency usage analysis of argot contracted forms testifies the dominating trend towards grammatical contraction. The typology of argot affixation is presented in the thesis. The socio-cognitive prerequisites for the use of argot lexis in standard French have been studied and generalized.
