The key problems discussed in the thesis include: a study of the aesthetics characterizing the 17th-century Galician engraving, an investigation into the genesis and most essenial steps of development of the artistic message of the Christ and the Virgin subjects. Proceeding from a composite approach to the subject matter, a great number of the survived records have been reviewed in the light of topical researches into the 17th-century cultural life of Galicia in the comparative context with other publishers' issues.
