Essay

The dissertation focuses on the comprehensive analysis of incentive speech acts and language means of their realisation in Modern French. The research performed results in the definition of non-verbal factors which influence the functioning of incentive speech acts, in the identification of their communicative and pragmatic content, in the description of the reasons for additional semantic, stylistic and pragmatic characteristics that are imposed on the primary meaning of incentive acts. The study of communicants' speech behaviour in concrete situations allowed to define peculiarities of the language means used to convey the incentive intention, as well as the regularities of their choice by the speaker according to the communicative purpose.
