The object of research - national secondary education in Ukraine. Тhe aim of research - to reconstruct the process of formation of Ukrainian secondary school of general education in 1917-1920, to demonstrate the dynamics of its qualitative and quantitative development. Methods of research - methods: comparative-historical, of empiric analysis, of systematization, objectiveness, statistical, analytic; principles: of historism, determination, scientifity, systematics, of overall development . Theoretical results and novelty - one of the first in Ukrainian historiography complex research of the process of formation and development of Ukrainian secondary school of general education at the period of liberation competition in 1917-1920. Practical results and novelty - main principles, results and generalizations, fact materials of the thesis may be used in preparing of special and generalized works on History of education and of culture of Ukraine.
