Essay

The thesis is devoted to the problem of sociocultural content of foreign language learning development in European secondary schools. The author analyses six periods of historical development of sociocultural content of foreign language learning. A research of the contemporary state is carried out. Two approaches are mainly used: monocultural and intercultural. The conceptional model of sociocultural content of foreign language learning is elaborated.The analysis of the European language policy is given. Approaches to sociocultural content of foreign language learning organization and forms of realization in some countries are investigated. Some proposals for Ukrainian schools are given.
