This dissertation studies the peculiarities of intraction between the Medieval Greek-Byzantian and Renaissance West-European art systems in the Ukrainian art in the second half of the 16th and the first half of the 17th centuries. At those times Ukraine was a place of time and spatial crossing of these two cultures. The issue of combining the art systems is considered in the light of the synthesis between Medieval and Renaissance concepts. The study is done on the material of the artistic inheritance of the Ostroh Circle, which was one of the greatest cultural centres of Ukraine in the 16th -17th centuries.
