Onyshchenko T. The influence of long-term bronchodilator therapy on a condition of cardiovascular system in patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis

Object of the investigation is chronic obstructive bronchitis (COB). The aim was to increase the efficacy and safety of treatment in patients with COB by elaboration of the recommendations for the long-term bronchodilator therapy in accordance with features of influence of different bronchodilator drugs on a condition of cardiovascular system. Methods: spirometry, pulse oximetry, 6-minute walk test, echocardiography, Doppler echocardiography, 24-hour blood pressure and ECG monitoring. The serum concentration of theophylline was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. Correlation between the lung function parameters, degree of hypoxemia and parameters of cardiovascular system was established in patients with COB. Efficacy of long-term bronchodilator therapy was proved by spirometry, pulse oximetry, 6-minute walk test, and also by dynamic of cardiovascular system parameters. There was established that long-term therapy with (2-agonist, theophylline and combination therapy including these drugs causes occurrence and augmentation of frequency of supraventricular and ventricular extrasystoles. The results of this study were inculcated into practice of therapeutic departments, Dniepropetrovsk hospitals № 6 and № 9 and pulmonological department of regional hospital named I.I.Mechnikov. Spheres of use are pulmonology and therapy.
