Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to an aesthetic investigation of social nature of the genre in the context of social and cultural processes of the historical art's development. The author bases on conceptions of social nature of the genre analyzing the genre's genesis of Western European philosophy and Ukrainian aesthetic theories, a process of genre's development in the Ukrainian music and modern mass culture. The dissertation proves the problem of social natur of the genre requires to be studied in the context of the categorical essence including social and cultural aspects of the genre's formation. The author's approach to the social nature of genre is focused on genre's aesthetics of Theodor Adorno, the aesthetic conception of Mikhail Bakhtin and theory of the genre of Svitlana Ovcharenko. Analyzing linguistic differences of interpretation of the category of the genre and social and cultural context of the historical periods of art's development, the author emphasizes that two main aspects of genre'sessence are complete integrity of art works and their creative aspect as method of development of this integrity. This social and creative role of the genre in the process of interaction between aesthetic categories of type, stile and image determines the research strategies of the process of genre's formation of the Ukrainian art based on vocal and symphonic music and modern genres of mass culture.
