Essay

Investigation is the first systematic philosophic-aesthetic analysis of the complex of theoretic and artistic papers of Thomas Mann. Dissertation is aimed to reconstruct formation of Thomas Mann's views as a whole and consistent system of views. There is in dissertation, integration of writer's works and views into context of European mental culture in XX century is shown as well as interconnection with historic-cultural processes of the epoch. Such approach is efficacious because it allows exploring creative work of Thomas Mann as trans-cultural and meta-historical phenomenon and discloses new perspectives in studying aesthetic and artistic consciousness of the XX century. Author of this dissertation investigation attends on discovering myth-poetic space of writer's works and aesthetic-literary examination of Thomas Mann's novels "The Magic Mountain", "Joseph and His Brothers", "Doctor Faustus: The Life of the German Composer Adrian Leverkuhn As Told by a Friend". Main ideas of this dissertation investigation can be successfully used in specific analysis in art studying.
