The thesis deals with the investigation of aesthetization process of the idea of freedom in the context of Western-European romanticism that appeared in Western-European culture as a certain historical type of the culture developed in the hard polemic with the Enlightenment cult of ratio and formed the new model/type of perception based on the spontaneity of aesthetic feeling. The thesis introduces integral aesthetic and culturological approach to the definition of freedom as aesthetic phenomenon. It is rearranged the fundamental stages of development of romantic interpretation of freedom and combined the theoretical and culturological factors that determinate the formation of these stages. This distinction of romantic conception of freedom is based through its comparative analysis and the ratio model represented by Enlightenment. In the thesis the cultural-historical and theoretical correlation of Romantic and Enlightenment conceptions of freedom are analyzed and their basic characteristics are represented. The application of romantic model of freedom in Modernism and Post-Modernism that has the implicit connotation of tension of theoretical and aesthetic position and demonstrates its historical value is also regarded.
