Essay

The thesis scientifically proves that Spanish verbs SER and ESTAR and Italian verbs ESSERE and STARE somehow categorize the world and define the place of the attribute concept in Spanish and Italian world picture. It is explained why SER / ESTAR and ESSERE / STARE are important for Spanish and Italian speakers categories of thinking. It is proved that both in Spanish and in Italian languages the verbs originating from Latin ESSE / STARE which serve as links in constructions with adjectives form a system of adjective classifiers. It means that the relation between adjectives and link-verbs is reciprocal, and the verbs-classifiers influence the adjective semantics.
