Essay

The thesis suggests a new comprehensive approach to the study of lexical and grammatical peculiarities and compositional structure of French presidential speeches. The latest achievements in Text Linguistics, Theory of Discourse, Theory of Communication, Pragmatics and Theory of Argumentation served as a ground for defining a political speech as a type of political communication. Contextually situational, functionally analytical and structurally grammatical textual analysis of political speeches was used and basic parts of political speeches compositional structure - the trichotomy scheme, consisting of introductory, main and concluding communicative blocks was revealed. Within the framework of anthropocentrism the argumentational factor of communicative and pragmatic orientation of political speech was analysed as well as its importance for influencing audience was confirmed. Typology and role of lexical and grammatical means in creating a communicative situation model were stated, lexical and grammatical means in texts of political speeches being classified according to the taxonomic principle.
