Essay

Formation and development of school geography education in Ukraine in the first half of the twentieth century is summarized in this work. Positive tendencies and characteristic features of geography teaching in schools of Ukraine from 1900 till 1950 have been analyzed. Special attention is given to the system and content of geography education. Development of the school geography teaching methods, painstaking teachers, methodologists and scientists’ work on their improvement have been also investigated.
