Notion, structure, peculiarities of formation and levels of development of cognitive activity of children have been presented in the dissertation research based on the study of theoretical questions, devoted to problems of forming of cognitive activity of older children of preschool age by means of creative tasks. Theoretical analysis of the problem has enabled to determine a notion, content, types and peculiarities of creative tasks for children of older preschool age. In the conducted dissertation research, the development methods of forming of cognitive activity of children of older preschool age by means of creative tasks have been scientifically grounded and experimentally checked for the first time; corresponding modifications of the given tasks for preschool children have been developed.
