The dissertation presents a theoretical generalization of the development of the cultural component of the content of preschool education in the second half of the 20th - beginning of the 21st century in the aspect of familiarizing children with the artistic word. The peculiarities of the development of the cultural component of the content of preschool education at various stages of the formation of the preschool education system are clarified. On the basis of the theoretical analysis of the investigated problem, the essence of the concepts: "cultural component of the content of preschool education" was specified; "artistic word". The readiness of modern educators to implement the cultural component of the content of preschool education is analyzed. The components of educators' readiness for implementation have been determined the cultural component of the content of preschool education (cognitive, emotional-value, behavioral); criteria ("knowledge of the cultural component"; "the effort to implement the cultural component"; "the ability to implement cultural component" with corresponding indicators and levels. The progressive practices of forming educators' readiness to implement the cultural component of the content of preschool education (in the aspect of familiarizing children with the artistic word) through the use of modern forms of professional education and the organization of effective interaction with parents regarding the formation of reading interests of preschoolers have been generalized and experimentally verified.
