Essay

Based on various sources of data the gradual and step-by-step strengthening of the students' importance in teaching and educational process is investigated in chronological succession in the thesis. The author reveals the normative basis of reforming higher school and legal status of the Ukrainian student, the dynamics of changing the students' role in the higher schools' system as objects and subjects of teaching and educational process in connection with appearance and development of non-state higher educational institutions as well as introduction of multi-channel financing of education system, establishment of level system of specialists' training etc. Changes in the students' role in teaching process of higher schools of Ukraine while making it correspondent to the Bologna process requirements are also analyzed. The author characterized the stages and the essence of new approaches to organization of teaching process on the basis of strengthening the students' original work. The students' participation in teaching and educational process is also revealed. The author revealed the students' activity in the public life of higher educational institutions. Based on examples of leading universities and colleges of Ukraine the author demonstrated development and formation of system of students' self-governing bodies as a form of developing young people's characteristics of future managers and organizers of working teams.
