Essay

Object is the word-forming phenomenon in Russian. The aim is to full structural and semantic description of word-forming nest with the summit to eat. Methods - description, components analysis, statistical. The author in the work studies main features of the nest history in different periods of time; sets out motivation relationship in the nest; analyses polysemantic words according to the types of polysemy; determines the nest structure through the combination of word-forming chains and word-forming paradigms; makes up supplements where thenest is represented on the time axis. The analysis of motivation relationship of word-forming nest derivatives showed that the majority of words are formed by means of direct motivation. Modification derivatives make up the largest group. In compound words there is a combination of direct motivation witn indirect one. Verbs are at the top of polysemantic derivatives. Statistic data prove the thesis finite capacity of verbs if compared with other parts of speech. Among the types of polysemantic organisation in the nest derivatives mature polysemy has predominative function. Semantic relationship of word-forming nest components have been studied on the level of word-forming chains and paradigms, which in their combination make up a word-forming nest as a complex unit of word-forming system. All derivative word-forming chains have a free stem that makes up word-forming rows and causes structural variety of word-forming chains. Another peculiarity of word-forming chains is a large number of polynary chains with considerable word-forming possibilities of the nest summit. The majority of word-forming paradigms are derived from verbs. It shows their high potentialities in word formation. On the modern stage of language development one can observe the growth of the researched word-forming nest, the quantity of its derivatives. And potential words in the nest structure point to it. Sphere of use is the training courses.
