Essay

The thesis highlights one of the main types of translation transformations, referred to as the transformation of verbalisation, in translation theory in general, and in translation from English into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into English, in particular. This is the first substantial research work on the topic. The thesis scientifically proves that the transformation of verbalization is a translation transformation characterized by increased verbal characteristics of the sentence in the target text as compared with the corresponding sentence in the source text. Explained are the major causes of this transformation. A classification of the types and kinds of verbalization is made in the thesis. Conditions and peculiarities of application of the transformation of verbalization are found out and compared in two translation directions.
