Essay

The object of study - secondary education institutions - gymnasias and non-classical secondary schools of Kharkiv region in the second part of the XIX century - the beginning of the XX century. The purpose of study is to carry out the retrospective and critical analysis of the basic directions of activity of gymnasias and non-classical secondary schools of Kharkiv region, to reveal positive and negative results of reform of secondary education, to generalize experience of formation of new educational institutions, organization of education and training process. The methods used in the research are: historical, logic, historical-typological, historical-comparative, statistical. The practical value of scientific research consists in an opportunity of use of its results during the decision of tasks of optimum organization of a network of gymnasias at attraction of private charity in view of historical-pedagogical experience of organization and management of such type educational institutions. The materials of research can be used at teaching courses of a history of pedagogic, history of Ukraine and local territory. The thesis is devoted to the investigation of the process of organization and activity of main types of secondary education institutions in Kharkiv region in the period of post-reforms - the second part of the XIX century - the beginning of the XX century - based on great number of archives and published documents, periodicals. It was analyzed influence of the government, activity of institutions of local government, private initiative on the process of secondary education institutions system establishing and their material bases and pupil's contingent, teachers staff forming. Development of qualitative and quantitative characteristics of educational institutions, their teachers and pupil's contingent was researched. It was determined influence on content of education and training pupils of secondary education institutions of Kharkiv region.
