Kolodij B. Re-creation of the Functional Semantics of Ukrainian Particles in Translation into English and French.

The dissertation aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of translation techniques and peculiarities of re-creation of the functional semantics of some frequent Ukrainian particles into English and French. The research has proved that the functional semantics of the analysed Ukrainian particles was re-created in the target languages properly for the most part. However, in some cases (as a result of the use of variant correspondences of Ukrainian particles in translation into English and French) the semes appear that were not inherent for these particles in the original which may cause the phenomena of "overtranslation" or "undertranslation". The reasons for the choice of the equivalents of analysed Ukrainian particles are as follows: usual and subjective reasons. The specification of re-creation of such characteristics of Ukrainian particles in the target languages as the emphasis of a certain element, communicative type and the degree of emotional hue of the sentence (in which a certain particle is used) were analyzed. A contrastive research of translation methods of Ukrainian particles into English and French was conducted and the reasons of the use of similar and different methods of translation of analyzed particles in the target languages were determined.
