Essay

The dissertation deals with the study of biochemical mechanisms of the rat brain membranes structures injury under conditions of 1,2-dichlorоethane and tetrachloromethane acute intoxication. The biochemical and morphological investigations were performed in 24 and 48 hours after toxins administration. It was shown that following 48 hours after intoxication both the brain synaptosomes vesicles serotonin transport system, Na+,K+-ATPase and mitochondrial succinate dehydrogenase activities were drastically alterated. The monoamine transport system and membrane-bound enzyme activities alteration was accompanied by the significant shifts in brain lipids fatty acids composition and brain tissue and erythrocytes membranes lipids and proteins peroxidative modification. The treatment of rats with nicotinamide (200 mg/kg body weight) resulted in considerable normalization of rat brain biochemical and ultrastructural disturbances induced by chloroalkanes acute intoxication.
