Essay

The objects (subjects) of research are works and approbation of methods of anaesthesia of wild animals, birds of prey and parrots. The aim of research is clinical-experimental substantiation of methods of general anaesthetization of wild animals and birds under zoos' conditions. The methods of research are: clinical, pulse oxymetry, analysis of morphological build of blood (the quantity of erytrocytes, leucocytes), biochemical (contents of hemoglobin, general albumen, glucose, urea, creatinine, bilirubin, activity of AST, ALT). The novelty of the results is that first in native veterinarian surgery there were experimentally used special methods and means of general anaesthesia of wild animals. New facts were founded, for example there was determined the effectiveness of use of the "hellabrun mixture" for general anaesthesia of chimpanzees, wild cats, bears, day birds of prey and parrots; first there was proved and demonstrated the effectiveness of using the mixture of immobilon and xylazin for generalanaesthetization of horses (the Prgevalsky horses, zebras); the methods of the anaesthetization of Indian elephant were improved; for the first time there was studied and practically proved the effectiveness of the use of pulse oxymetry to control the course of anaesthesia of wild animals; it was discovered that the anaesthetics that were used did not cause big change of morphological build and some biochemical proofs of the blood of wild animals and birds during deep stage of anaesthesia; the effectiveness of use antagonist of main drugs was determined; suggested: for the general anaesthesia of wild animals under zoos' conditions we propose to use "hellabrun mixture" in such doses: to chimpanzees - 0,02 ml on 1 kg of the body's mass; to wild cats (tigers, lions, leopards, lynxes) - 0,8-3 ml for an animal; to bears - 1-3 ml for an animal; to birds (day birds of prey and parrots - 0,04-0,1 ml on 1 kg of body's mass; for general anaesthesia of wild horses (the Prgevalsky horses, zebras) must be used the mixtureof immobilon and xylazin in such doses (on 100 kg of body's mass): 1,0-3,0 mg of etorphyn and 20-50 mg of xylazin. The "hellabrun mixture" was used in general anaesthesia of the adult Indian elephants in a dose 1-1,5 ml and after 1,5-4 ml of immobilon. For neutralization of xylazin there was used antagonist yohimbin in a dose 0,3 - 0,5 mg/kg of a body's mass. For neutralization of immobilon you can use антидот revivon in a dose that is twice more than the quality of etorphin i/v and extra 1 ml – hypodermically. Inculcated: the got results are used in practical and scientific work, in educational process on the faculty of veterinarian surgery by academician Povagenko, on Departments of Surgery and Obstetrics of the State Agrarian Academy in Poltava and Sumskiy NAU, on faculties of veterinarian surgery of State Agrarian University in Bila Tserkva, National Academy of veterinarian medicine in Lviv by Giytsky and Harkivska DZVA and in Ukrainian zoos; using area: Veterinary Medicine.
